Gerard is a Hawera resident, has professional expertise in horticultural and agricultural education. Gerard is heavily involved in a range of community organisations including the Normanby and Districts Lions, NZ Fish & Game and has experience on local school boards.
Representative from Federated Farmers Taranaki
Bryce holds the position of Taranaki Dairy vice-chairperson, Federated Farmers Taranaki. With approximately 1200 active members, Federated Farmers is the voice of farmers in Taranaki. The organisation liaises on behalf of members with the four councils in the Taranaki Region, and advocates for a better farming community. The organisation was previously represented on the Panel by Bronwyn Muir, Taranaki Provincial President.
As manager/owner of long-standing Waverley family business, and holding roles past or present on local sports and chamber of commerce committees, Brent brings a local community and business perspective to the group.
As former Principal of a south Taranaki primary school, Women’s Refuge Trustee and Chairperson of START Taranaki, Liz brings a wealth of experience relating to primary education, social services and the support for vulnerable and disadvantaged of South Taranaki.
Ngaruahine, along with the other iwi of South Taranaki, brings an important tangata whenua perspective to the Panel, with a strong emphasis on environmental and cultural outcomes, and values such as trust and integrity. The Trust’s four goals include building capacity, prudently manging and building assets and wealth for iwi, reviving iwi culture and supporting iwi wellbeing, all delivered with a focus on empowering hapu and marae capacity.
Business and project management experience
Vicki lives in Waverley and brings a community and local business perspective to the Panel, including experience from local playcentre management, owning and managing an automotive business and project management experience from local Council roles.
Abbey is an active member of the Waverley community. She has sat on the South Taranaki Youth Council, is on the board of the Waverley Amateur Swimming Club and has been involved with other community sports events. Abbey represents the youth sector of South Taranaki.
Patea Planting Trust
Leicester is a resident of Patea, and is chair of the Patea Planting Trust. He passionate about the local environment and works with community groups on a range of conservation and ecological restoration projects, particularly relating to coastal habitats and waterways.
Te Runanga O Ngati Ruanui Trust’s mission is to achieve Ngaati Ruanui wellness, by taking a holistic approach to Ngaati Ruanui cultural, social, education and economic wants, needs and aspirations to build a strong cultural, social, political and economic base for nga uri o nga hapu o Ngaati Ruanui. Ngati Ruanui is kept informed of the Panel’s activities.
Representative from Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust
The Rotokare Scenic Reserve Trust representatives bring an environmental and conservation focus to the Panel. The Trust, a community-led group, works to achieve the highest level of restoration, protection and enhancement of the indigenous ecosystem at the Rotokare Scenic Reserve (12kms east of Eltham, Taranaki), and to encourage the community to experience the reserve’s riches.
Ngaa Rauru has requested to be kept informed of the Panel’s progress and will co-ordinate with the other two iwi on issues and feedback it would like to see raised.
